Context

SFU VentureLabs is a business accelerator that supports sustainable tech-based startups with mentoring, programs and resources to grow their company. As a marketing assistant, I worked with the marketing team to plan and produce social media posts, host events and provide consultation for client companies.

Social Media

I coordinated posts on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook and adapting to each platform’s graphic ratio and word limits. My posts include:

  • Interesting articles and resources
  • Monthly highlights
  • Engagement posts

Videos

For engagement posts, I produced small clips to share over social media such as holiday posts and end-of-year posts. I successfully increased engagement by highlighting the whimsical fun of living in Downtown Vancouver.

 

04 Successes + Insights

Working as a marketing assistant at SFU VentureLabs was an invaluable part of my career journey. I learned a lot about using my graphic and video experience and applying it through marketing, and it was rewarding to see it pay off through the analytics.

I feel more confident about working professionally, communicating with different departments, presenting my ideas to clients, and conveying clear messages through different channels.
